Yo Reader If I read this headline 2 years a go, I would have hit the unsubscribe button. Ehh… business… Men wearing suits, trying to take money from you. No soul or creativity, it's a machine designed to turn employees into zombies while profiting the higher ups. A stereotype I did not want anything to do with. But that's exactly what it is, a stereotype, and it's the unfortunate truth of some businesses. Thankfully not all are like that and the good news is you can rebel against it. Business is just a collection of systems and processes, working together to solve problems and profit. When it's framed like that, it's much more attractive. But what is a one person business? To put it simply it's you systemising your life, generating ideas to solve problems and making a living. I don't know about you, but I like money - it's a handy resource for living a comfortable, purposeful life. The downside is we live in a world where we don't really get enough time to fully enjoy using that resource because the trade off for time/money is not balanced well. But what if there's a way to scale time and money in your favour? You can as a one person business. Last week I talked about how to Monetise your ideas , which is a primer to get started on a content creation journey to profit from. A one person business takes that one step further. Learn sales, marketing and writing. Build slow, build an audience, sell small products that solve a problem, iterate, improve and scale the price, turn small products into courses, keep iterating and then turn them into a book. The possibilities are endless. Over time you'll have a library of products and a fully operational one person business. How do I start?Sounds easy when it's framed like this, because it is, all you need to do is start (with a long term goal in mind). Create a Twitter account and start tweeting ideas, opinions and thoughts. Review the feedback in the form of views, likes and comments. Engage with others that you find interesting, support other like minded individuals and you'll grow. It only takes 1 hour a day to do this and a few months you'll have an audience who resonate with your ideas. This is exactly what I did, I have 650 Twitter followers and 99 Email subscribers - thank you :) I don't have any digital products yet…but stay tuned ;) The AnalogyLet me describe the one person business concept using an analogy. Becoming a one person business is like growing a tree. A tree's purpose is to grow and produce fruit. Your purpose is to grow and produce solutions. A tree needs water and sun. You need education and creation. The more water and sun the tree gets the more the tree grows. The more you educate and create the more you grow. The tree grows taller and becomes more visible. You grow an audience and become more visible. The tree produces and decomposes leaves returning nutrients to itself. You produce and decompose content returning knowledge to yourself. The tree creates fruit to provide nutrients for others to grow. You create products to provide solutions for others to grow. The tree becomes wealthy. You become wealthy. SummaryDon't demonise business, it's just a collection of systems designed to help people and make money. You can start building with 1 hour a day, you just need to start. Do it now. Invest in yourself now, reap the rewards later. This journey will only make you spiritually, mentally, resourcefully wealthy.
